It feels good to live next to a marine protected area!

An interesting new study, recently published by IUCN, shows the benefits people enjoy who live close by marine protected areas in Western Africa. It concludes that "the populations living close to a protected area in Western Africa could raise their revenues by 40 per cent" with related activities.

This number of 40 per cent can be even higher following investments in eco-tourism, as with our eco-lodge in Keur Bamboung and its numerous activities.

The study is available at the website of the Programme for Protected Areas in Central and Western Africa (PAPACO).
